Following the electric vehicle fire in Incheon (Cheongna) and the ongoing reports of fires around the world, we have been in continuous discussions with William S. Lerner, an EV infrastructure specialist and risk mitigation consultant in the United States, regarding safety measures for battery-related vehicles, on-site fire response, charging and infrastructure, and considerations for building sites during September and October. Here’s what we discussed.

Recently, I had an extensive conversation with Guang Yang, a leading UX designer at Diconium, a subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group IT, about the crucial battlegrounds of HMI and UX in the automotive industry. We discussed the implications of software-defined vehicles and autonomous driving, the future of luxury, the sensory experience of cars including various displays and voice assistants, the external expansion of interfaces, and regional customer differences. The final question was about his favorite car model he has seen so far, to which he responded, 'Who wouldn’t want to travel through time and see how consumer behavior and demands evolve over the years?' naming the 'DeLorean'.

Ilika의 전고체 프로토타입, OEM에 배송되다  

Ilika의 그레임 퍼디 CEO와 Goliath 전고체 배터리 진행 상황을 살폈다. 공정은 LIB 기가팩토리에 사용되는 공정과 호환되며, Goliath A 샘플 개발을 제때 완료해 자동차 OEM 및 배터리 제조사에 라이센스하길 바라고 있다.

Ilika's Solid-State Prototype Delivered to OEM

AEM explored the current progress of Ilika's portfolio, including their automotive Goliath battery, with CEO Graeme Purdy, a pioneer in solid-state batteries in the UK. Ilika's processes are already compatible with those used in LIB gigafactories, and they hope to complete the development of the Goliath A samples on time to license this technology to automotive OEMs and battery manufacturers.

Amid active discussions by our authorities to implement preventive measures for EV accidents in relation to the Incheon (Cheongna) electric vehicle fire, I had a conversation with William S. Lerner, a U.S. EV infrastructure specialist and risk mitigation consultant, about safety measures for battery-related vehicles, vehicle information and identification, on-site fire response, and considerations for charging and infrastructure. As the cause and results of the late September incident emerged, we spoke again, and here is the report.
